An Introduction

Before any e-loyalty design element or program can be effective, you must first meet the basics of Web usability—easy navigation, 2-3 clicks to any solution, fast page loads, effective search engines, a quick shopping check-out process, server reliability, ability to handle peak load times, etc. Once you nail down these critical basics, start focusing on these top 10 critical design factors that separate good websites from the great ones.

Limiting a list to the 10 is next to impossible. So, we cheated and incorporated important points under each design recommendations. This shorter list is more digestible and we hope is more actionable.

Every top ten list begs to be challenged, both for the audacity of limiting advice to ten points and for thinking 10 critical points can be prioritized. So we haven’t prioritized the design elements, we’ve listed them in the order of the steps you take to build a relationship.
